Marjory Stewart Biography

After completing a Ph.D. in nutritional biochemistry, Marjory did a post doctoral fellowship in a pathology research lab, followed by a senior research fellowship in chemistry and biochemsitry during which time she worked with a team affiliated with The Dow Chemical company in the development of an early cancer detection molecule. Her doctoral research involved the molecular mechanisms for protective roles of antioxidant nutrients against the early molecular changes that lead to cancer. Dow's strategies for protecting and leveraging knowledge fueled Marjory's nascent interest in the law. During law school she interned at Texas Tech University and Health Sciences Center Technology Transfer Office, clerked in the appellate division of the District Attorney's office, competed in a national level moot court competition, clerked with a boutique intellectual property office, and served as a research assistant to one of her professors.

Marjory has served as president and co-founder of a Texas wellness corporation, co-founder of a large organic food co-operative, member of LLCs, and owner of her law firm. For eleven years she managed a large international sporting event in Toronto, negotiating contracts and marketing deals as well as organizing hundreds of volunteers and professionals.

Community activities have included serving on numerous boards of directors, including the sport governing body for road racing, the South Plains Food Bank, service with the Hurricane Katrina Legal Clinic, various positions with the Milwaukee Bar Association, eight seasons of soccer coaching, leadership within the Odyssey of the Mind and Forensics programs, a leader of Junior Great Books programs as noon-hour enrichment for students, YM and YWCA capital campaigns, the directorship of over 60 road races, numerous cross country and track meets for various beneficiaries, and Sigma Xi leadership (past president, Marquette chapter).

Before science or law, Marjory was sponsored for five years each by Adidas, Reebok, and Nike. She was the 1987 Canadian marathon champion and has competed in hundreds of races. She has climbed mountains around the world since the 70s. Marjory hails from Caledon, Ontario - home of the Mayfield Mavericks.
